THE TOURNAMENT

TOURNAMENT LOGISTICS

​TEAMS & REGISTRATION:

  • 8 teams will compete in a fun, single-elimination kickball tournament.

  • Team registration is $300 and includes tournament entry plus a team t-shirt for each registered player.

  • Rosters can include up to 12 players. You’re welcome to register fewer than 12, but the team registration fee remains $300. Have more than 12 people ready to kick? Consider registering two teams!

  • No rules around team makeup! Your team can be all kids, all adults or any combination of players. We simply ask that everyone comes ready to play friendly kickball and have fun for a great cause.

  • Each team will be assigned a unique team color, with shirts distributed to the team captain upon arrival on event day.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:

  • Check-in begins at 1:30 PM, with tournament play beginning at approximately 2:00 PM.

  • Two games will be played simultaneously on the indoor field.

  • Games will be 25 minutes, with 5-minute transitions between rounds.

  • All games will be played indoors at WSFS Bank Sportsplex. The indoor soccer field will be divided in half, allowing two games to take place simultaneously.

  • Once your team is eliminated, we hope you’ll stick around! Cheer on the remaining teams, grab some snacks, participate in the raffles, enjoy the company and help us celebrate at the closing ceremony.

  • Tournament play will wrap up around 4:00 PM, followed by awards, raffle drawings and closing festivities.

SPECTATORS & FANS:

  • Family, friends and spectators are welcome! Suggested donations will support CHOP’s Cardiac Center.

TOURNAMENT RULES

⚾ GAME FORMAT

  • 10 players on the field at a time.

  • Teams may have up to 12 players on their roster.

  • Substitute freely! Players may rotate in and out of the field throughout the game.

  • Everyone bats! All rostered players will be included in the batting order.

  • Games are limited to 25 minutes OR 5 innings, whichever comes first.

  • Each inning consists of 3 outs per team.

🥎 KICKING & BASE RUNNING

  • The pitcher rolls the ball underhand toward home plate.

  • The kicker must kick the ball behind home plate and may have up to 3 pitches to put the ball in play.

  • No stealing or leading off — runners must stay on their base until the ball is kicked.

  • Runners advance one base at a time and may be tagged or forced out.

  • No sliding — for everyone's safety, runners should stay on their feet.

  • A kicked ball caught in the air is an out.

  • Foul kicks count as a strike; three strikes = an out.

🏃 SCORING & WINNING

  • A run scores when a runner safely reaches home plate.

  • The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.

  • If the game is tied when time expires or after 5 innings, teams will participate in a simple tiebreaker round to determine the winner.

❤️ KEEPING IT FUN

  • This is a friendly, recreational tournament — good sportsmanship is expected from everyone.

  • Volunteer referees will be assigned to each game to make calls, answer questions and keep games moving.

  • Referee decisions are final. When in doubt, keep it friendly and keep it moving!

  • Please respect our venue! WSFS Bank Sportsplex has generously provided its facility for this special event, and we ask all participants and spectators to follow venue rules and treat the facility with care. Anyone who damages property, disregards venue rules or behaves disrespectfully may be asked to leave.

  • Most importantly: have fun, cheer each other on and remember why we're playing — to support kids and families at CHOP’s Cardiac Center.

the Philadelphia Union.
